Vortex flowmeter fault types can be divided into two categories: system faults and instrument faults.

Vortex flowmeter fault types can be divided into two categories: system faults and instrument faults. After a fault occurs, system faults should be checked first, and instrument faults second.

1. System faults

System faults include: installation and wiring errors, caliber mismatch, flow range mismatch, vibration and electromagnetic interference effects , power supply problems, improper sensitivity adjustment, etc.

1. After powering on, there is fluid flowing in the pipe, but there is no signal output.

Check whether the instrument wiring is correct and whether there is any disconnection.

Check whether the installation direction of the instrument is correct.

Check whether the traffic is lower than the normal traffic range.

2. There is no fluid flow in the power-on pipe, but there is signal output.

Check the grounding of the instrument to see if poor grounding is causing interference.

Check the pipeline for strong mechanical vibration.

Check whether there is strong electromagnetic interference in the environment, such as high-power electrical appliances or frequency converters and other strong electrical equipment.

Check whether the sensitivity is too high and adjust the two potentiometers counterclockwise until there is no output.

3. The flow of fluid in the pipeline is stable and meets the flow requirements, but the output changes too much and is unstable.

It may be interference caused by poor grounding.

It may be that the pipe vibration is too strong, causing interference.

It may be that the sensitivity is too low and there is leakage triggering. Just increase the sensitivity.

4. The displayed flow rate does not match the actual flow rate, and the error is large.

It may be that the instrument parameter settings are incorrect.

It may be that the measurement error of the temperature and pressure instrument is too large.

The traffic may be lower or higher than the normal traffic range.

It may be that the installation does not meet the requirements, such as the installation is not concentric, there are obstacles in the pipeline, and there are insufficient straight pipe sections.

2. Instrument faults

Instrument faults include: detection probe failure, detection amplifier failure, internal short-circuit, meter body leakage, etc.

1. Simple judgment of detection amplifier failure

In the absence of special instruments, use the display instrument to observe the signal, and sense the signal at the input end of the detection probe lead of the detection amplifier by hand, that is, It can be roughly judged whether the detection amplifier is faulty. If there is a signal reflection, it means that the detection amplifier is basically normal. Otherwise, the detection amplifier may be faulty.

2. Simple judgment of detection probe failure

If the instrument has no signal response but the detection amplifier has a signal response, it can be considered that the detection probe may be faulty. To check the quality of the detection probe, use a multimeter to measure the insulation resistance of the two signal lines. When the temperature is lower than 200°C, the insulation resistance should be greater than20MΩ; when the temperature is higher than 200℃, the insulation resistance should be greater than 10MΩ. If the insulation resistance meets the requirements, the detection probe is basically normal, otherwise there may be a fault.

What needs to be reminded here is that if you encounter a vortex flowmeter failure, please contact the manufacturer or consult Supmea Measurement and Control as soon as possible. Non-professionals must not operate at will.
